May 17-18, 2019 | Onalaska Omni Center
La Crosse, WI – Visitors to the 2-Day Driftless Outdoors Show will be able to experience DockDogs®, the world’s premier canine aquatic competition, in partnership with Wisconsin DockDogs® and Minnesota’s DockDogs® Northern Stars. Club members from each state will be battling head to head in a border battle competition to determine which state has the “top dogs.” The general public is invited to bring their dogs to the event to compete, either by pre-registering through the DockDogs® website or registering onsite on a first come first serve basis. Dogs and handlers can participate in the Big Air®, Speed Retrieve®, Extreme Vertical®, and Iron Dog® competitions throughout the weekend.
Concurrently, visitors to the Driftless Outdoors Show can expect 50,000 square feet of kayaks, canoes, bikes, camping, fishing, archery, hiking, equipment, and information brought to the area by top experts and retailers.
In 2018, the public had a chance to check out the birds of prey, demo an electric bike, try archery tag, take a mountain bike class, learn to fly fish, and more. Attendees of the 2019 event may also upgrade equipment while enjoying food trucks and 90+ Outdoor Organizations and Vendors.
Information on participating in the DockDogs® competition can be found on the DockDogs® website www.dockdogs.com. A full competition schedule and registration information will be posted here in the near future.

A new event makes a big splash in Minocqua
MINOCQUA – A new event made a big splash this weekend in Minocqua.
“Everybody up here has docks that they’re jumping their dogs off of, so why not make an actual competition out of it,” said Minocqua Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Krystal Westfahl.
The Minocqua Chamber of Commerce held the first ever Paws in the Park competition on both Saturday and Sunday.
“We’ve got competitors from all over the state as well as many local competitors here today,” said Westfahl. About 70 dogs were entered into Sunday’s dock competitions despite steady rain throughout the day. Dock Dogs is the organization that runs the competitions.
“We’re so glad to be up here in Minocqua,” said Dock Dogs Wisconsin Club Announcer Jered McMahon. But it wasn’t the first time Dock Dogs has come to Wisconsin.
“Wisconsin has been one of the founding members of Dock Dogs, they were actually the second club established in the country,” said McMahon.
Dock Dogs features a few different competitions including extreme vertical jump, speed retrieve, and Big Air, which is the long jump.
“If you guys do this out at your house or at the cabin, bring them out here and give it a try, who knows you may have the next World Champion Dock Dog jumper,” said McMahon.
Kaitlyn Troyer decided to enter her dog Remy into the competition. “We’ve never done it before, and thought ‘okay she loves the water, loves jumping off the dock at the lake so we’ll see what happens,'” said Troyer.
Overall, Troyer thinks the competition is good for the Northwoods.
“It’s something different and fun for the dogs and the community as well,” said Troyer.
There are plans host the competition at Torpy Park for years to come every Father’s Day weekend.
